Here’s how it happened:

1. A friend posted a pic on Facebook.
2. I followed it to a Tumblr page.
3. I went to another Tumblr page linked to from #2.
4. That page had a song in the background.
5. I loved it.
6. I typed some of the lyrics into Google.
7. I found the song.
8. I now love dubstep. What artists should I check out?

Crank That

I’m obsessed with the new Souljah Boy “Crank Thatphenomenon, but nothing is as cool as Travis Barker’s remix of the song. It reminds me of my time at Berklee when I would practice my drum lessons along to The Chronic and Doggystyle while everyone else was using a metronome.

John Mayer’s Chocolate Rain re-mix of Nelly Furtado’s “Say it Right”:

Chocolate Rain comes to Jimmy Kimmel. I love the audience reaction shots. Priceless!

Volta

There’s a great New York Times article today about Bjork and her new album. There are a couple of sample tracks embedded in the in it, which sound great.

Oh, I also just discoverd a Bjork video podcast. Sweet!

Volta is available for pre-order at Amazon.

20 Worst Cover Songs

Cracked magazine put up a list of The 20 Worst Cover Songs in Pop Music History. An interesting list, but I don’t think everything on the list is really that bad.

Even though I’ll occasionally admit to liking Celine Dion, her version of “You Shook Me All Night Long” is embarrassing, but the most shocking song on the list is Duran Duran covering “911 Is A Joke” (found on page 4 with audio!).
