Here’s the email I just received:

Greetings:

We are pleased to announce that in December we will be replacing the seats on the main floor of the auditorium and installing new high-backed rocker seats with lift-up armrests/cupholders. The project will be completed before Christmas and we hope to keep any schedule disruptions to a minimum.

Our current seats will be available for purchase by any of our customers who would like to use them in a home theater, on a porch, or other use where compact seating would be desirable. The seats can be mounted quite easily to a wooden surface, or a wooden base of plywood and/or 2×4 lumber can be used. The cost is $10 per seat, and a row can be any length. If you have interest in any seats or have other questions you can respond to this e-mail or give us a call at 612-729-7360.

We appreciate your business and hope to keep the Riverview screen lit for years to come.

I’ve had this recipe on a piece of paper for the last 6 years and I’m always afraid that I’ll lose it. Part of the reason I’m posting it is just in case something happens to the hard copy.

Chicken Wild Rice Casserole

INGREDIENTS

One 6 ounce box of Uncle Bens Wild Rice (not the instant kind)
Four boneless & skinless chicken breasts
One cup of chopped celery
One can of sliced water chestnuts
One to one and a half cups of shredded cheddar cheese
Half of a chopped onion
Eight ounces of sour cream (I usually get the fat free kind)
Two cans of cream of mushroom soup (I usually go for the Campbell’s Healthy Request)

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Bake and chop the chicken breasts into bite-sized or smaller pieces.
2. Cook rice per the instructions on the box.
3. Mix the sour cream and soup together.
4. Add the vegetables and cheese.
5. Mix in the chicken and rice.
6. Put it all in a 9×15 pan (glass preferred).
7. Cover and bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 1-1.5 hours, depending on whether or not the casserole was prepared and chilled in advance.

Russell Crowe and Denzel Washington were excellent and Ridley Scott did a good job directing the film, but I saw three problems.

Keep in mind that the film is set in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s.

1) During a street scene, there is a banner for a store visible that clearly has a web address on it. I think it was something like carpetetc.biz. Can someone double check when they see it?

2) RZA’s Wu-Tang Clan tattoo was clear in one scene, which isn’t a huge problem, but kind of threw me off and jolted me out of the story for a minute.

3) Early in the movie I saw graffiti by “KUMA” a graffiti artist whose pieces I’ve scene in Minneapolis and New York. The piece looked exactly like this:

Plus, was this style of graffiti even around then? I’m not 100% sure, but I don’t think so.

Granted, these aren’t major movie mistakes, but they all stood out to me without looking.

I’m back from Arizona. My body is still adjusting. While the time difference should only be one hour, Arizona does not observe daylight savings time. Here’s an article that does a decent job of explaining why.

Yesterday I snuck off for a bit to have lunch with my great aunt and uncle. My uncle let me take some photos of his camera room. He’s 93 and has collected 1600 cameras in his lifetime. Many are rare and all are in working condition. He let me take some snapshots of his collection, which I’ll post after I get back home.

Today my brother’s wife was home all day, so I decided to rent a car and reclaim my freedom. I got a pimped out Buick Lucerne. Well, it was as pimped out as a Lucerne can be.

My foot was feeling a lot better, so I decided to drive out to the desert for awhile and hike around with my camera. It was 96 degrees out and the sun was blazing hot. I guess I was the only person crazy enough to be out, because I didn’t see anyone else around and the parking lot was totally empty.

When I stepped out of the car it was really peaceful and quiet, until I heard a rattlesnake in the near distance. Fortunately, it rattled every 10 seconds or so and I could tell it was getting farther away. Honestly, I was hoping to see a rattlesnake, but that didn’t happen, which I guess is a good thing. I kept on with my hike and had a great afternoon.
