Walking Softly

I’ve been having a problem with my left foot for about a month, but this morning was the worst.

Here’s how it usually happens: I wake up and the outside of my foot aches along the top and side. Walking on it hurts a little and I have to walk it off for a few minutes to loosen it up.

This morning when I stepped on it, it felt broken. I almost hit the ground and hand to limp around for about an hour. It still hurts, but it’s tolerable.

Here are my guesses as to what’s wrong:

1) sprain or strain
2) a circulation problem, but it’s only one foot, so that doesn’t make a lot of sense to me
3) bad shoes – I’ve been wearking Chuck Taylors for a couple of months. No arch support, etc. However, yesterday I wore Birkenstocks all day. Today I’m trying my hiking shoes.

If this keeps getting worse, I’m going to have to pony up and go to the doctor. It’s nearly unbearable.

Any other ideas about what might be going on?

Taste Test

My allergies have been killing me this week. I’m not sure why my meds aren’t working, but I had to go out to get a bunch of nasal spray and eye drops.

As long as I can remember, I’ve been extremely careful with eye drops. I won’t risk using them until I put at least a couple of drops on my tongue to make sure it hasn’t been replaced with “you’re blind” juice. Am I crazy?

We Have Contact

I finally added a contact form here. I decided to use a WordPress plugin by Dagon Design for reasons that I can’t remember right now. I wanted to use Ryan Duff’s contact form, but his site has been down for months. Not sure what’s going on with that.

If there’s a better contact form for WordPress that I should be using, let me know. If you just want to say hi, try it out.

In other news, my sleep schedule is totally jacked. Last night I stayed up until after 4am working on my new photography website that I hope to launch this weekend. I ended up sleeping until 1pm.

Now that I’m self employed, I’m finding that I do my best work after dark. When the sun is out I’m way too ADD, so I use that time to email, network, run errands, ride my bike, etc. I don’t know what I’ll do if I have a morning meeting, but I think it’s best if I get back to a somewhat normal schedule.

Plowed In

plowed in

Last night, in the middle of a blizzard, I ventured out to see my friend’s band, The False Guilt, at Big V’s. It was their first gig, and Steve is a really good friend, so I wanted to make a point of being there. His set went really well, and I’m excited to see them again. There were a few other bands that played, but none that I liked as much as Parts For All Makes. You can check out their stuff on iTunes.

I didn’t intend on staying late, but the weather had other plans. Fortunately, Steve had a shovel in his trunk. As soon as we started shoveling out my car, we were mobbed by all of the other people on the street, who had also been plowed in. For a few seconds I was nervous about getting beat up for the shovel, but instead we ended up helping about 5 other people dig out.

Once my car was free, I felt pretty good…until I started the drive home. I’ve never experienced roads as bad as I did last night. Fortunately, I made it all the way home, but not until 2am. Unfortunately, the ramp going down to my parking garage wasn’t cleared. I decided that I had to go for it. I backed up, hit the garage door opener, and barreled my way through the snow, straight ahead into my parking spot. I don’t think I have ever been as happy to be home. There’s no way I’m leaving the house today.
